I would like to set up LINK to read ... (Austin Guest)

I would like to set up LINK to read and write to an external hard drive and share the contents of that drive on my LAN network. Currently I have two problems:

(1) My hard drive is Mac-formatted (OS X Extended Journaled) and is therefore appearing in Ubuntu as a read-only drive (at least I'm assuming the Mac formatting is why it's read-only).

(2) I don't know how to to make any of the LINK's mounted drives discoverable on my network to other computers. Ultimately, I would like to share files back and forth between the LINK's external drives and my Mac desktop in a two-way fashion.

What is obviously peeking through here is that I am a Mac native and a total Linux newbie. Any helpful pointers (or links) on how to figure out this basic drive formatting and network sharing configuration stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think I love your product. Everything I want to see on my HDTV is on the internet. I would kiss Directv goodbye, but first:

Four really basic questions:

Do I still need a computer in the network to manage the internet connection or does Neuros eliminate the need for a separate "computer"?

Does Neuros provide complete access to everything on the internet?

Is performance (e.g., lack of flicker on streaming video) better with a hard wire LAN connection or will I do as well with wireless. And would I need to upgrade my four-year old Verizon/Westell router?

Assuming I upgrade my wireless network to 1eee 802.11 b/g could I use Neuros to display my notebook screen/audio on my HDTV?

Still trying to get skype working. I got it ... (Jay Nelson)

Still trying to get skype working. I got it installed and can produce output via HDMI. I bought a Logitech QuickCam Connect USB webcamera. I connected it to the front of the box and am able to get the audio microphone working in skype. It records and can playback my conversation over the test connection. I just can't figure out how to get it to recognize the webcam ability. In the video options it does not recognize any available device to test.

I did 'sudo modprobe video' and got the following in my /var/log/messages:

Linux video capture interface V2.00
usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0)

But there is no /dev/video0 (which is what I was expecting to use to test with luvcview). Skype still doesn't recognize any available device.

How do I make the webcam available to skype?

Not to sure what's going on, The linkk was ... (Robert)

Not to sure what's going on, The linkk was working great, then two nights ago I could not hear any sound from it. I then checked it over, nothing muted, nothing unpluged, ect.

So I gave it a reboot, After reboot, iy still has the same problem... I really could not tell what was going on... I have an xpass usb drive that i have fedora installed on. I plugged this into the usb port and removed the flash usb stick, booted up again and it works fine, I can watch movies now, and hear sound... So, i figure this is some sort of sofware issue and re-installed the 1.2 image from the site here. Now I reboot this and it has problems.

1 Want's to run in low graphics mode. says it want's me to run fstc. I run this and wow, it's plagued with problems... Took like an 20 mins to get through it. After it get through this and reboot, same problem. wants to run in low graphics mode, but will never get me into the gui. I thought well maybe I did not dot he image right, so, I did it again. Same problem once more.

Once this flash usb drive is loaded up with the 1.2 image, should it not just run correctly? It did the first time I loaded the image onto it. (When it was first released) Has something been changed in the image file?

Why would it think there has been bad shutdown after the image is installed and then booted from?

I'm thinking there is nothing wrong with the usb drive, as it seems to get written to with no errors. But some how seems to maybe be corrupted to some extent when trying to read fro the stick.

Any ideas ?

Robert

This is perhaps a suggestion more than a question. I recently purchased a Link, ans while waiting for it to arrive I read the specification sheet on your Link page. So I purchased a couple gigs of ram (DDR as is listed) and a DVD Multi-drive.

Much to my distress the Link takes DDR2, and has only a slim-drive bay. Now I have pretty paperweights as I have no use for either of my purchases.

I simply do not want others to have the same experience, because I think the Link is a very promising device otherwise.

I'm interested in the Neuros LINK. Until we upgrade our TV, I will need an S-Video or composite output.

Will your device work with this? Is there a compatible USB/S-Video or composite adapter?

Help me out please.. There must be a way to get the link to output a s-video OR composite signal. There are USB adapters for this, there are even HDMI adapters for this. I need Neuros to say which ones are supported.

With this information I can purchase one of your wonderful units.

thanks,
